Why you should create an optin freebie
Growing your email list is an important task to focus on if you want to monetise your blog.
You might have heard the saying: Money is in the list…
Which is definitely true in my opinion.
Did you know that the more email subscribers you have, the more money you’ll make? It’s estimated that for every subscriber you have, you’ll make $1 per month. This means if you have 5000 subscribers, you’re likely to make $5000 per month!
So if you’re keen to increase your blog income, you need to increase your email subscribers, and creating a few newsletter freebies will definitely help with that.

How to come up with freebie ideas that are perfect for your blog
When creating your freebie, you need to make sure it’s relevant for your readers and solves one of their most common problems.
If you create a quick fix for a hurdle they’re facing, it will be a no-brainer for them to sign up, especially because it’s free!
You also want to make sure that your freebie is related to your blog post content and signing up would be a logical next step for your reader.
For example:
If you’re a food blogger with a post about meal planning -> create a meal planner as freebie.
If you’re a social media manager -> create a social media calendar which can be added to many blog posts.
If you’re a business coach -> offer a free consultation.
What freebies do I have on my blog?
I get new subscribers every day with the following freebies:
Free Printable Blog Planner: Blog Planner Workbook
Free Blogging Course For Beginners: Kickstart Your Money Making Blog
Free Pinterest Marketing Guide: Pinterest Set Up For Success
All these freebies are a logical next step for people starting a blog and wanting to grow their blog traffic.

Creating Canva Templates As Freebies
In the video above I showed you how to create a checklist that you can download as a pdf and give to your subscriber as a printable pdf. But another thing you could do is turn this checklist into a template (that’s what I did in this post).
So the freebie that I’m offering you is not a pdf but a template that you can edit in Canva so you can turn it into a checklist for you subscribers.
If you want to create templates with Canva, make sure to not save it as a pdf but as a template.
When you’ve finished your template design in Canva, instead of downloading a pdf, you go to > Share > Share a link to edit > Share a link to use as template.
This will give you a link that you copy. Then you have to create a separate pdf in which you add this link. You’ll send this pdf to your email subscriber. They’ll open the pdf, click on the link and open this template in Canva.
If you want to learn how to set up the technical side of this in Mailerlite, check out my course: Easy Email Setup In Mailerlite.
In step by step videos, this course shows you how to set up email sign up forms on your blog and how to create automated sequences and link your freebie.

Thank you for recommending ConvertKit and MailerLite, I’ll check them out. I created my first freebies but have been struggling with MailChimp! grrr
Yes I struggled with Mailchimp too, so I ditched it for Mailerlite and have not regretted that move for one moment!!
Some good ideas here; I only need a bit of time to decide which and how (and actually make one or two!:)))
